Program

FOSS4G will feature a packed week of educational sessions and fun social events from Monday September 12 through Saturday September 17. You can now register to attend the conference, but please read through this page first to understand the options that are available. You can also now book accommodation at the conference hotel. This is where all the conference sessions will be held, and it will be the social hub outside the sessions too, so we strongly recommend staying here to get the most out of the conference.

Full Schedule - All Sessions

Monday and Tuesday: Workshops

Workshops are 3 hour hands-on experiences with participants following along with the instructor, working directly with the application under discussion. Computers will be provided. There is a separate fee for workshops. There are 24 workshops to choose from, see here for details.

Tuesday: An Introduction to Geospatial Open Source

On Tuesday in parallel with the workshops, we will be holding a special introductory event for people new to open source, or wanting to gain a better understanding of the space. You can attend the introductory event alone, or in conjunction with the main conference. More details available here.

Tuesday Evening: Welcome Social

Tuesday evening will feature a fun social event open to everyone registered for the main conference, workshops or the introductory event. More details here.

Wednesday through Friday: The Main Conference

The main conference will feature over 150 sessions in a variety of formats, including 20-25 minute presentations, 5 minute lightning talks, and 1.5 hour tutorials. The conference will also feature an academic program. The call for papers is now closed. Selected papers will be announced in early June.

Wednesday evening: Exhibitor Social

Wednesday early evening will feature a social at the exhibit floor, after that we encourage you to visit one or more of the many great bars and restaurants within easy walking distance - we'll publish some suggestions in due course.

Thursday evening: The Big Party!

We are excited to announce that the main conference social event, the Big Party, will be held at the Denver Art Museum in the amazing Hamilton Building, which is a really great venue with lots of interesting things to explore. We'll be providing plentiful food and drink, and will have access to several galleries as well as their gift store, which is a great place to pick up some cool presents to take home!

To keep the main conference registration price down, this is an optional event and priced separately, but based on previous events we expect and hope to see most attendees there. You are welcome to bring guests too - just indicate how many tickets you would like on the registration form.

Friday evening: Informal Social

We plan to organize some sort of informal social event for those still around on Friday night - a baseball game is one possibility.

Saturday: Code Sprint  & Academic Meetup

Saturday will feature the FOSS4G code sprint, an opportunity for developers to get together and work on projects face to face. Along with the Code Sprint there is also an Academic Meetup for educators or users interested in brainstorming education approachs to FOSS4G content.
